Jail Break, a Ploy to Orchestrate Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh

Before the formation of the interim government, the fundamentalists forces in Bangladesh backed by Jamaat-e-Islami wanted to eliminate Hindus. Deep rooted conspiracy was hatched to attack various jails and set free the arrested militants and criminals from there. The trained cadres of Pakistan’s spy agency ISI in the league with fundamentalist student forces plotted the conspiracy. They mingled with other students, attacked the prisons and set free the criminals. The real reason for the attack on various jails including in Narsingdi District, was to rescue the militants of Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Harkatul Jihad al Islami (HuJI) etc.
After the departure of Sheikh Hasina and before BD President Shahabuddin ordered the release of the prisoners, the conspirators wanted to release their compatriots. So various prisons including Narsingdi, Sherpur, Satkhira were attacked. After that jailbreak incidents, attack on Hindus also increased a lot. The police personnel themselves were affected by the violence of fundamentalists. It is also alleged that the army did not take any action to prevent the attack on the prison despite the information provided by Awami League leaders.

Pakistan tried desperately to avenge the defeat of 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh by using the anti-quota student movement. With the financial support of other countries, Pakistan’s spy agency ISI planned the attack with a specific intention-establishing Islamic rule and spreading fundamentalist ideology. Jamaat and their patrons tool control of the students’ movement. That is why the student movement quickly became so violent. And it has also been proved today that Sheikh Hasina did not get full support from the police and army to resist the movement. Rather, many of those who had the responsibility of maintaining law and order made the situation more vulnerable by provocation. A section of the police also has blood stains on the murder of their colleagues. The trained forces of Jamaat and ISI wanted to malign the police force. They entered the police station with the help of militants and killed the police. Police buildings were also burned. It is impossible for ordinary students to do this heinous act. Skilled forces were needed to do such type of barbaric acts. On 23rd July, 826 prisoners, including nine hardened militants, were snatched from Narsingdi District Jail. Eighty-five firearms and 8,000 bullets were looted from the prison’s arsenal. All the documents were also burnt. Narsingdi Jail had no relation with this movement. The attack was carried out only to rescue the militants. After being released from jail, these terrorists involved in the carnage in the country. Hindus were attacked with weapons seized from jail. They wanted to burn all the historic documents of independence. Jail superintendent Abdul Kalam Azad and jailer Kamrul Islam have been temporarily suspended, but they are going to get bigger responsibilities again in the hands of the pro-Jamaat government.

In the same manner, fundamentalists attacked Satkhira jail. After the evening, all the lights of the prison were switched off. Ordinary prisoners were also freed for the purpose of releasing the militants. Satkhira Superintendent of Police Matiur Rahman Siddique said the miscreants attacked the jail and took out the accused. “They are attacking and setting fire to different parts of the district. Satkhira Sadar Police Station, the residence of the Superintendent of Police, the District Freedom Fighters’ Parliament and many other places were attacked, set on fire. Arson and attacks are going on in different areas of the district. But the real objective of the masked fundamentalists was to get the militants out of jail and then lead the country into anarchy.
In Sherpur, the jail was attacked during the day. Jamaat and its sympathisers marched in the city with sticks and country-made weapons, neutralizing the police, and attacked the jail, set it on fire and helped more than 500 prisoners to escape from the jail. They set fire to Sherpur Sadar Police Station around 1pm. At that time, the police were forced to run away. They used this opportunity to bring out the militants.
There have also been several attempts to snatch prisoners from Kashimpur jail in Gazipur in which several notorious militants are lodged. The police have already admitted it. The army was in charge of guarding the prison. The prison was repeatedly attacked in front of them and several notorious militants managed to escape during this unsettling opportunity. Scores of militants are said to have escaped from other jails as well. They are the ones who create unrest across the country. These militants are the mastermind behind attacks on police stations. Many policemen have lost their lives on duty in this turbulent environment. Many policemen were killed inside the police station. Only trained militants can execute such heinous killings.

Before the formation of the interim government, the military rulers officially released at least 2,200 prisoners. This list also includes many hardcore militants and their supporters. Yet, there is a deeper conspiracy behind the attack on the prison. They did not want to officially release internationally tainted prisoners to maintain their image in front of the international world. So the conspirators showed the way to their release in the name of attack on the prison, safeguarding their image. It was also part of their plan to create an atmosphere of terror in the entire country. The idea was to deceive the masses in a careful manner so that the ploy of release of militants before the formation of the interim government could not be revealed.
Many of the prisoners who escaped from the jail have returned voluntarily. But the hardcore militants have mingled with the crowd of students. They are now the main artisans of creating unrest. Their aim is not limited to departure of Sheikh Hasina or the formation of a government led by Dr. Yunus. Fundamentalist forces led by Jamaat want to establish Islamic rule in Bangladesh. So all the sculptures are being broken. Attempts have also been made to force Hindus to leave the country. However, the attacks on minorities are being suppressed as propaganda so that foreign aid is not stopped. Minorities are also forced not to report the attacks. Overall, a fundamentalist anarchy is going on in Bangladesh. Militants, whose release was orchestrated from prison, are being used to plunder human rights. They are accompanying their supporters and associates.
