H.H Dalai Lama turned 88 years old on Thursday, July, 6th. The spiritual leader celebrated his 88th birthday with a wish for peace in the world and for the recognition of a common humanity among people.

In Vienna, Birthday message for H.H. Dalai Lama was displayed continuously in all public transport, trams and buses, for the whole day of July, 6th. Special prayers were also conducted in Buddhist monasteries for the long life of H.H. Dalai Lama.

Hundreds of supporters and exiled Tibetans gathered at the Dalai Lama’s hillside Indian headquarters in Dharamsala on Thursday, where artists played traditional musical instrument as His Holiness presided over his birthday celebrations in the courtyard of the Tsuglagkhang Temple. Again as a display of his child like mind, H.H. Dalai Lama smilingly said, “We are celebrating my 88th birthday but look at me, I look barely 50,”.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on his phone call with H.H. Dalai Lama conveying his heartfelt greetings to him and wishing him a long and healthy life.
