Tibetan Community in Vienna, Austria protested outside the Chinese Embassy in Vienna on People Republic of China’s 74th National Day (October 1), calling for the restoration of Tibet’s Independence.

Carrying Tibetan national flags and placards, the protesters shouted slogans such as “No Freedom of Expression in Tibet,” “Stop human rights violations in Tibet,” “Free Tibet,” etc.

China’s National Day marks the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. The Chinese Communist Party, led by Chairman Mao Zedong, declared the establishment of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. This event marked the end of a long civil war and the beginning of communist rule in China. It is customary for the Chinese leader to hoist the national flag in Tiananmen Square on the national day. It is an irony that across the world Tiananmen square is remembered by the massacre launched by CCP against its own citizens who were fighting for their rights.

One of the protestors in Vienna mentioned that they don’t celebrate China’s National Day. “This is a CCP celebration of 74 years of violence, lies and oppression against the people of Tibet, East Turkestan and Hong Kong” he added. Tibetans want freedom. They are totally against the CCP. Mass collection of DNA and killings in Tibet has to stop. International community should join the cause and raise their voices together to make China halt the draconian genocidal policies.

“Since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China by the Communist Party in October 1, 1949, the Chinese government has not only illegally occupied and colonized Tibet, East Turkestan and Southern Mongolia; it has carried out many wrong and disastrous policies that have resulted in death of over 30 million Chinese people,” another protestor added.
